AI Engineer
Build AI tools and agents that raise our productivity and shorten our delivery times: internal tooling for the team, custom tools for clients, and AI products we ship and own.
The role
This is a junior-level position. We do not expect you to arrive with every skill listed below. What we expect is a solid technical foundation, genuine interest in AI engineering, and the ability to learn quickly, work independently, and take risks.
What you will do
- Build internal AI agents that make the team faster at the work we already do.
- Build custom AI tools for clients, as their engagements call for them.
- Build AI tools we ship as products, owned and sold by the company.
- Maintain the tools and agents across all three categories as they grow and as the models underneath them change.
- Keep up with the field. Read widely on new AI tools, models, and techniques, and bring back what is worth using.
- Manage tools and scripts. Keep old and new tools easy for any team member to use, so the same tool never gets written twice.
Training and onboarding
Before you start on real client and product work, you will go through a structured training period. The company covers your learning: courses and guided study in AI engineering, AI agentic payments, AI hacking, the x402 and MPP protocols, and the other areas the role requires.
You will learn and work on your own, not lean on us. We support, guide, and wait. But you must be able to move forward, and move fast.
What you need
- Basic knowledge of AI engineering, AI features, and data analysis.
- Know how to use Claude Code, Claude co-work, Claude Skills, Codex, and Gemini — and how to pick up any new AI tool.
- Solid general software engineering and technical skills.
- Practical ability to use AI in your work, with previous work you can show us.
- Good Python skills.
- Basic knowledge of MCP servers.
- Willingness to learn new things and move into unfamiliar tracks.
Nice to have
- Basic blockchain knowledge.
- Familiarity with the x402 and MPP payment protocols.
- JavaScript and Node.js backend experience.
- Cloud infrastructure experience, like Railway, AWS, or similar.
What we offer
Pay
- Monthly retainer.
- A share of every project you work on, on top of the retainer. This is where the larger part of your income comes from, and your share grows as your work needs less review.
- Retention bonus on your 12-month date.
How we work
- Core hours are 12:00 to 16:00 Cairo, every working day. Online, reachable within about fifteen minutes, and ready to join a call.
- We count deadlines, not hours. Nobody tracks your time.
- You may work elsewhere, as long as you are present during core hours, you hit your deadlines, and you tell us in writing before you start.
Hiring process
Four stages, from a first conversation with both founders to an offer.
Interview with both founders
Basic information sharing and a vibe check.
Interview with each founder
Two separate interviews, one on the technical side, one on personality and soft skills.
Two-week trial
Normal hours, normal rules, unpaid. We write down what the two weeks should produce before you begin, and either side can stop at any point with nothing owed.
Offer
After two weeks, either you go on the retainer or we part cleanly.
